Every gig, every client, and a profile that wins work, all in one place.
Steerd is the base you steer your freelance business from. Every inquiry, every client, your outreach and the profile you send them stay connected, from the first contact right through to a compliant invoice. One place, instead of five spreadsheets, a Word CV, and your inbox.

“I'm a developer in Berlin, and for years I ran my own freelance work from a spreadsheet, a folder of Word CVs, and a memory full of clients and half-finished follow-ups. Steerd is the tool I wanted the whole time: it wins me the work, keeps every client and gig on one thread, and now sends the invoice at the end of it. The name says it: this is where you steer it all from. It works the same whether you write code, shoot film, design, make music, or run any independent business. I built it for how we actually win and run work, not for how software thinks we should.”
Manuel Bieh, Founder, building Steerd in Berlin
Your business is scattered across five tabs.
Most freelancers track gigs in a sheet, keep their CV in Word, and run follow-ups out of their inbox and their head. It works fine, right up until a gig slips or a client asks which version of your profile you sent.
Spreadsheet
Gigs you half-remember to update
Word & PDF
A new CV for every client
Inbox
Follow-ups you meant to send
Your memory
Which inquiry, which client
Calendar
Calls with no context attached
The work is fine. Running it from five places is the problem.
One place to win the work, and keep it.
Steerd is built around the part that actually wins you work, then keeps every gig on one thread from the first lead to the paid invoice.
Win the work
A pipeline built for how freelancers actually win work: the inquiries coming in, the people you reached out to, and the ones worth chasing again. Every opportunity, every conversation, and the next step in one view, so nothing slips between the cracks.
- Track gigs from first lead to signed
- See every open opportunity at a glance
- Never lose a follow-up again

Present yourself like a pro
A real profile engine, not a one-off résumé. Tailor a pitch-ready CV to each gig in minutes, in any of eleven designer themes, and import your old one so you start from your last version, not a blank page. Every CV stays versioned, so you always know exactly what you sent.
- Tailor a CV per gig in minutes
- Eleven designer themes, one source of truth
- Import your old CV, export to PDF or JSON

Run the work, and know whose turn it is
Projects, contacts, activities, and status in one home base. Steerd even tells you whose turn it is: it flags the gigs waiting on you, the follow-ups gone overdue, and the ones that have gone quiet, so nothing slips while you are heads-down on billable work.
- Contacts and projects, connected
- Whose turn is it: waiting, overdue, gone quiet
- Nothing slips while you are heads-down

It grows as you do
Start solo today. The day you bring on your first people, Steerd is the same tool, now with team profiles, who's on what, and the margin between your day rates and your cost rates. You don't switch products to grow into a team.
- Team profiles when you hire
- Resourcing: who is on which gig
- Margin when day rates meet cost rates

Every inquiry and all your outreach, in one place.
Most of your work you win yourself: a referral, a client who comes back, someone you reached out to last month. That is exactly where a spreadsheet gives up. Steerd holds every inquiry in one view, where it came from, what you did last and what is due next, so you can push the ones worth winning instead of digging for them. And if a gig does come in through a recruiter, that is captured too.
Every inquiry, where it came from and what is due next. In one view, not in three spreadsheets.
One gig, one thread, from the intro to the invoice.
This is the part no other tool does. From the first inquiry on, everything about a gig stays connected to what follows, instead of scattered across a CRM, a Word CV, a timesheet, and a billing tool that have never met.
You get a project inquiry
Straight from the client or through a recruiter, Steerd captures everyone involved from the start and keeps track of who you are really selling to.
You send the right version of your profile
You tailor a CV to the gig and send it. Steerd remembers you sent version three, so the follow-up call is never a guess.
You do the work and log the hours
Billable time lands against the project, ready to bill, with nothing double counted.
You send a compliant invoice
The tracked hours become an invoice your accountant accepts, cleanly tied to everything that belongs to the project.
An invoicing tool can bill, but it has no overview of the work coming in. A sales CRM tracks the deal, but it cannot cut that invoice. Steerd keeps the whole thread in one place.

And it runs the rest of the job too.
The home base does not stop at winning the work. Everything you need to run and bill it is built in, so you are not stitching five subscriptions together.
Compliant invoicing, built in
Real invoices with a live PDF preview that is the actual document: per line VAT, EU reverse charge, and proper corrections, not a glorified PDF export. Fully compliant, the kind your accountant signs off on.
Time tracking
Log billable hours by project in a week grid, then turn them straight into an invoice or export a timesheet.
Encrypted documents
A private vault for contracts and files, encrypted per team, with rich in browser previews for calendar invites and contact cards.
Inbox to pipeline
Connect Gmail or any IMAP inbox and turn a project inquiry into a client, contact, and gig with one click.
API, and an MCP server
A REST and GraphQL API with keys, plus an MCP server, so you can drive your whole business from your own scripts or an AI assistant.
On course in an afternoon.
No migration project. Bring what you have, and start steering.
Bring your gigs in
Add your live opportunities and clients, or let Steerd pull them from your inbox. Your pipeline takes shape in minutes.
Build your pitch-ready profile
Set up your profile once. Tailor a CV per gig from there, in any theme, ready to send the moment a client asks.
Stay on course
Log calls, set next steps, and watch every gig move from lead to won, with nothing slipping in between.
Why not just keep the spreadsheet?
Because the spreadsheet loses track of your inquiries, a sales CRM has no idea what a day rate or a compliant invoice is, and the all-in-one billing tools bolt a thin CRM onto their invoicing. Steerd runs the whole thread.
Straight talk about what Steerd is, and what it isn't.
Steerd now wins the work, runs it, and invoices it to statutory standard. It is not a full accounting suite, and it never pretends to be. Here is exactly where the line sits today.

Questions, answered straight.
Where does Steerd save me the most time?
On chasing things down. Every inquiry, every client and every next step sit in one place instead of spread across a spreadsheet, your inbox and your head. You see at a glance what is open, what is overdue and where it has gone quiet. Add a tailored CV per gig in minutes instead of an hour of copy and paste, and an invoice straight from the hours you tracked. You steer all of it from one view.
Does Steerd actually help me win more work?
That is the point of it. Every inquiry lands in one view with where it came from, what you did last and what is due next, and Steerd flags the ones going quiet before they go cold. Most work is lost to a forgotten follow-up, not to a competitor. And if a gig happens to come in through a recruiter, that is tracked along with everything else.
Is Steerd a fit for my kind of work?
If you sell your own services, yes. Developers, designers, filmmakers, musicians, consultants, product people, and small studios alike. If you win work, present yourself, and run projects for clients, Steerd fits, whatever your craft.
What if I grow into a team?
Then it stays the same tool. Start solo, and when you bring on your first people Steerd adds team profiles, resourcing, and the margin between your bill rates and cost rates. You don't switch products to grow into a team.
Can I rely on the invoices?
Yes, that part you do not have to think about. Steerd writes real, compliant invoices: sequential numbering, the mandatory fields, per line VAT with EU reverse charge, the Kleinunternehmer scheme under § 19, and corrections as a real Rechnungskorrektur, not a Gutschrift. Finalized invoices are locked and retained the way § 14b requires, and the live preview is the exact PDF you send. All of it straight from the hours you tracked, without retyping numbers into a second tool.
What happens to my data?
We collect only what the product needs to work, we never sell your data, and you can export or delete it whenever you want. Sensitive documents are encrypted per team, and your CV fonts are self-hosted so the people you send a CV to are never tracked. We treat all of that as table stakes, not a feature.
What does it cost?
You start for free, no credit card. Steerd is priced per person, with a tier for when you grow into a small team. If it wins you one extra billable day a year, it has more than paid for itself.
